The highlight of the tour is a visit to the City Hall and its famous Blue Hall, where the Nobel Prize banquet is held.
Our tour begins with a panoramic drive through the city center. A scenic drive next brings us to Stadshuset, Stockholm’s City Hall, where we’ll take a guided walk through this massive, fortress-like red brick structure. The building known for its tower whose cupola is topped with the three golden crowns of historic Sweden – the national coat of arms. Behind the magnificent facades are offices and session halls for politicians and officials, as well as assembly rooms and unique works of art. Here we’ll make our way to the Blue Hall, scene of the annual Nobel Award banquet, and the Golden Hall, with its 18 million gold mosaic tiles that illustrate Swedish history. Before departing, we’ll take a short break to shop for souvenirs and gifts that commemorate City Hall and Stockholm.
We’ll then continue on to Gamla Stan, the Old Town, where Stockholm began over eight centuries ago. On our brief, guided walking tour, you can savor the romantic atmosphere and sense the antiquity of the 16th- to 19th-century buildings, baroque doorways and regal coats of arms. We’ll see the Stortorget – the square that serves as the hub of the Old Town, and the old Stock Exchange, now home of the Nobel Museum and the Swedish Academy.
We will then drive to the neighboring island of Djurgården, known as Stockholm’s outdoor recreation center, and such historic sites as the National Museum and the Royal Dramatic Theater.
Our day continues with a visit to the Vasa Museum, built specifically to house the Vasa, the oldest fully-preserved ship in the world. On her maiden voyage in 1628, the warship had been sailing for less than 20 minutes before the wind caught her sails and toppled her. Over three centuries later, in 1961, she was finally raised from the mud of Stockholm harbor, along with 12,000 accompanying artifacts. You will explore the museum’s other exhibits and displays of historic items recovered from the harbor.
The tour concludes with a drive back to the cruise port or your hotel.

Best of Stockholm Private Tour with Vasa Museum & City Hall Visit
Yes, it was expensive to hire a private guide for 3 cities (Copenhagen, Gdansk and Stockholm. But, I would do it again! Each of our guides was warm, knowledgeable, flexible and happy to share about their culture and city. We ate tradition lunches and shared stories as well as seeing and learning about soo… many things. There is no comparison between the ship’s excursions and this. Thank you, Nordic! Our trip was everything I’d hoped.

Eva-Maria did a wonderful job customizing 4 unique private tours for our group of nine including 3 kids (ages 11,8 and 2) parents and grandparents! We had an amazing time in Copenhagen, Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm – each tour was a bit different – tailor-made for the city and for our group- We loved each of the tour guides Eva-Maria found for us – Sophia, Triin, Susanna and Katya – each represented her city perfectly! We would highly recommend Eva-Maria’s services to other families traveling to these beautiful cities – she helped us to make the memories of a lifetime! Thanks! – Hillary, Saratoga Springs New York
