This walking tour allows you to explore the many sides of Dutch history including a guided tour at Amsterdam’s grandest and most popular museum, the Rijksmuseum.
The itinerary begins with a comfortable private transfer to Museum Square, where you will continue to discover the vast collection of artifacts depicting 800 years of Dutch and global history including the iconic paintings by the likes of Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Aside the highlights of Vermeer’s Milkmaid, Van Gogh’s Self-portrait and Rembrandt’s most well-known painting: the Night Watch, we will also see a gorgeous collection of Delft Blue pottery ranging from tea sets to vases.
A fascinating guided walking tour then takes you over picturesque brick bridges and to hidden courtyards while admiring the beauty of 17th-century architecture. You will hear about the humble beginnings of Amsterdam as a muddy village on the River Amstel, to becoming one of the most important trading cities in Europe.
The must-see sights of the walking route include also the the Jordaan neighborhood, Royal Palace on Dam Square and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas located in the Old Center district of Amsterdam. During the walking tour you will have a short stop for local Dutch cheese tasting and an opportunity to buy local delicacies.
