We will enjoy a short panoramic drive over the Öresund Bridge to Malmö. The Bridge is more than just an impressive piece of architecture as a symbol of days gone by peacefully connecting the province of Skåne and Danes after many years of legendary bickering.
The first 8 kilometers of the scenic drive is on the bridge, the final 4km is through the world’s longest underwater tunnel that takes us to the artificial island of Peberholm.
Once in Malmö, we will explore the city where old meets new from its proud castle and showpiece squares Stortorget and Lilla Torget to the cosmopolitan promenades of Västra Hamnen’s vibrant redeveloped waterfront. Here, we will see Scandinavia’s tallest building the award-winning Turning Torso twisting its way skyward as it overlooks the Western Harbour – once a declining post-industrial area today transformed into an attractive and sustainable modern development.
Next we will stroll the charming cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan filled with decorative fountains and statues. The old town highlights include a cluster of beautiful historical buildings in so called Saint Gertrud Quarter, the oldest pharmacy ” The Lion” founded in 1571 and the old City Hall with St.Peter´s Church.
After the guided walking tour, it´s time to enjoy some free time to introduce you to the Swedish “fika” tradition: afternoon coffee and cakes at a delightful local cafe or enjoy a spot of shopping before returning comfortably to Copenhagen over the engineering marvel of Öresund Bridge.
