This tour can start from all Stockholm cruise ports and city center hotels. For tours starting/ending at airport, hotels outside of city center or Nynäshamn harbor located 60 km outside Stockholm, please contact our office prior to confirming your booking. Day trip to Drottningholm offers a fascinating opportunity to learn about not only the legacy of Swedish royal family, but also a closer look into how the royals live and work, as this is also a private home of the Swedish Royal family.
After a short panoramic drive from Stockholm, you will arrive to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Drottningholm Palace. As one of the most well-preserved royal castles built in the 1600s in Sweden, the palace and grounds offer an exquisite experience of a beautiful historic Renaissance-inspired setting.
Your local guide will provide an entertaining insight into the atmosphere and historic period that influenced the design of both the palace and garden layout. The discoveries at the palace include many 17th century rooms, galleries, art pieces and an elaborate staircase. The highly ornamented State Bedchamber of Queen Hedvig Eleonora is Sweden’s most expensive baroque interior.
Strolling in the majestic geometric gardens, you will also be admiring the exotic facade of the Chinese Pavilion and the unique palace theater, which is an impressive experience.
After the tour at Drottningholm comes to an end, we will return to Stockholm to end back at your hotel or cruise port.
